Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge
The 35,000-acre Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is naturally preserved woodland that provides a natural habitat for wildlife and a unique environment for visitors to learn and explore.

The 67,000-acre Wheeler Lake and the Tennessee River offer unique and beautifully landscaped opportunities to enjoy fishing, boating, and other water activities. These two main bodies of water are enhanced with four quality marinas, lakeside parks, and easily accessible launch facilities.
Four beautifully-manicured and award-winning golf courses are scattered around the Decatur-Morgan County area.
Hiking and Biking

Hundreds of species of birds call Decatur and Morgan County home. The area is actually part of the Central Loop of the North Alabama Birding Trail and hosts the annual North Alabama Birding Festival.
Decatur offers two courses for the growing sport of disc golf. Surrounding communities offer courses as well.
Decatur-Morgan County is equipped to get in on the treasure hunt with its geocaching opportunities.
Parks
There are eight public parks to be enjoyed in Decatur and Morgan County. In addition to walking paths, picnic areas, and playgrounds, the variety of parks also include fields for softball and soccer and tennis courts.
Decatur and Morgan County is an ideal spot for hunting. Turkey, whitetail deer, and waterfowl are just a few varieties of wildlife available for hunting here.
Horseback riding is a great way to take in the all of the natural beauty that Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge and Bankhead National Forest have to offer.
Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge offers a beautiful backdrop for a day out canoeing. The area also offers six public boat launches for easy water access.
