Fresh produce straight from local and regional farmers can be found at the Decatur Farmers’ Market. The Market is hosted in downtown Decatur from April through November.

A symbol of the city’s rich railroad heritage, which extends back to the 1830s. You can visit the Historic Train Depot to watch live trains pass by or stroll around the railroad museum. There is even a model train set that is sure to please any train enthusiast! The Historic Train Depot is free to the public.

The 60-acre GoFAR USA Park is an outdoor adventure park that includes a variety of activities for all ages and all physical capabilities.

Nearby Hartselle is home to a historic depot and downtown, featuring popular downtown shops offering items such as imported Mexican pewter, art work by local artists and craftspersons, linens, soaps, and all kinds of antiques, from glassware to large furniture items.

The Princess Theatre has hosted performances and exhibitions of all kinds for the last 130 years. It began as a livery stable in 1887; was transformed into a vaudeville playhouse named the Princess in 1919; and, following a 1941 facelift, emerged with the art deco style that remains today and features a brilliantly lit neon marquee. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the 677-seat theatre now serves as Decatur’s performing arts center.

In 1959, L.L. "Jack" Reeves (the great-grandson of Thomas Reeves) and his son, Donnie established the first peach orchards on the farm.  four generations of the Reeves family have been growing peaches, along with other fruits and vegetables for over six decades.  It is our goal to provide customers with the highest quality tree ripened peaches possible.

We’ve got some sweet stops that you absolutely cannot miss! With the help of our Visit Decatur AL Ambassadors, we’ve created a Sweet Treat Trail throughout Morgan County!

CLOSED FOR RENOVATION: The first stop on the Civil War Walking Tour of Decatur was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The Old State Bank is the oldest bank building in Alabama and is free for the public to tour!  Starting Monday, May 13, 2024 the Old State Bank will be CLOSED to the public for the foreseeable future as we start the Restoration Project on this historic landmark. We will be working with stakeholders on programming, preservation design, schematic design and development, and construction documents with engineers and architects as the project progresses. 

The Old Decatur Historic District and New Decatur Albany Historic District are full of living history to behold.

Hidden in the pages of Decatur, Alabama’s history are the unmentioned and noteworthy African Americans, who made countless contributions to our city.

It is the mission of Decatur Parks and Recreation to provide high quality recreation and leisure facilities, park programs and activities, to meet the demonstrated needs of all citizens who reside within the city through sound planning, efficient allocation of resources and effective management.  

Scottsboro Boys Civil Rights Museum is a nonprofit Alabama Corporation operating under an agreement with The Community Foundation of Greater Decatur, Inc. 

For more than 80 years, Wheeler Wildlife Refuge has provided a verdant home for Alabama’s natural flora and fauna. Due to renovations, the Visitor Center is temporarily closed to the public. The trails remain open and are an excellent way to get a little fresh air!
